As you all know I'm that Public Service kinda gal. So part of today's post is gonna be some tips that I hope will help my fellow Desert Noobs along the way as they explore and have fun in Tale 3 and beyond :D

1. Pinning up menus.
OK I had no clue what that cute lil pin thingy was on the upper right corner of the menus was for. I thot it was decoration or something. And the first couple times I clicked on it, I guess I screwed up and it didn't stick, so then I just ignored them after that.

Don't do what I did! Those pins come in handy :D So relax, take a deep breath, and click on a pin. The menu will stay up and you can walk, run around or whatever and its pinned to your screen so to speak. It can be helpful in digs, working machines, and pretty much any activity where you have to click a lot, or keep track of items/data etc.

Some menues on machines actually stay up and don't poof if you click on the actions - thats a nice thing! Like when Gentry did some adjustments to the Glaziers Bench menu. But me, I've become a Pin Up Gurl. I'll pin stuff till the cows come home - cuz that's just me.

Pinning For Potash!

I heard tell in one of the past Second Life "updates" or two, there was some new pin-the-menu-up feature. Well I guess a few lindies are sneakin around still reading mah blawg LOL Stealin ideas from Teppy! Well that's all well and good - it behooves one to snag from a person who knows what the heck they doin :D

2. The Wiki is yer Friend!
Really it IS Don't be daunted by the word "wiki". Usually them damn things are of no use to anyone. For example the Second Life wiki is just a bunch of crap that keeps getting re-edited, deleted and re-written by only a certain few who think they know everything. Hence its fragmented, and skewed and the last time I tried to get help from it my brain sploded.

Things are different with the ATITD wiki. Why? Well for one, the more accurate information you put on there, the further and faster we all can get towards the end goal. And the goal is for Egypt as a WHOLE to demonstrage worthiness - not just a select few.

So if you go all ego-maniacal on the wiki - well you'll get trounced, and your stuff won't last long up there. If you keep posting erroneous crap that sets all of us back a few steps - same thing. I know I kicked up a fuss at the beginning of the Tale when folks were posting stuff all crazee and refering back to Tale2. Like thats even helpful. I'm sure that's a part of starting off on a new Tale - but it got corrected right quick anyhow.

Vigil Bonfire!

A small example of how the wiki could have helped my ass if I'd just studied up on The Whole Vigil Thing a bit more. Well actually, let me segue into a small thing that can figure pretty large when it comes to interractions.

In all or most games, you've got the Oldbies and the Noobies. Its a human nature thing, I give no harm no foul on this. Sometimes the Oldbies take it for granted that you know ya stuff. Well I didn't in this particular case.

I should have known that I needed to pass the Worship Initiation before I could be eligible to take part in a Vigil. Well it was late, and I'd been up for a looong ass time, and well I think I would have asked the right questions if I'd been more alert.

So what happened was I ran around getting stuff for a Vigil, and even ran to the University of Worship to sign up for elibility. But since I haven't taken the principle test or whatever - all of that was nulled out. But I'm cool - I still donated my stuff and then I went back to my CP to tuck my beetles in for the night and then catch some well needed Zs myself :D

So: Study the wiki in the areas that you want to work on or explore. Get enuff info under your belt, so you can ask the Right questions, so you won't hafta run around crazee like I did :)

3. Guilds Can Help You Out!
Yep they CAN. But you gotta be a bit selective. For example, once I'd caught the Beetle Craze - I got info on the Beetle Mania! guild and applied for membership. When you join a guild that is dedicated to a specific area that you have intense interest in - it can be a tremendous help.

You can ask questions to a group of people who have the knowledge that you need. Sometimes you can get random help by wailing pitifully on Regional Chat, but heck why not wail pitifully on a guild chat that is specifically peopled with folks who have the same interests as you do? Not to mention the founder of such a guild would obviously have a TON of info, and have gathered in folks that know a thing or two as well.

I've found it tremendously gratifying, and you can also really network well with those sorts of guilds. Set up trades for items that are needed for terrariums, for example and/or get folks together to prospect for the marble needed for beetle statues and so on. Yay! Here's where you can Git Ya Guild Search On. Click and Enjoy!

_________________________

Sadly I have to write about this yet AGAIN. Here's The Link To the Last Time I Had To Go There and I hope I won't have to do this again anytime soon.

There is a well documented disorder called Histrionic Personality Disorder. This crops up on the web also of course, and its been dubbed Internet Histrionics. I won't go into too much detail or name names, but just put some info out there for ya to yet again: Watch Ya Backs.

A few months back someone in Second Life had faked their death. Well someone did that just the other day in ATITD. Seriously yall. When I croak, you won't even know it. You'll be just left to wonder why I ain't updated my blog in weeks or whatever, and wonder at my absence online in SL or Tale. No big whooop. No Drahma.

(And yep I WILL smack Friends and Family with Da Ghostly Cheeze if any of yall go all dramatic once you figure out I've bought the farm!)

Anyhoo. Just be careful out there in internet webland. Cuz you nevar know who's behind the avatar and what all kinda personality disorders they may or may not have. Me personally I have all kinda crap wrong with me. And that's why I'm such a Crazy Gal - and ya LURVE itttt yes yoo doo!

But I'm never gonna fake my demise to get attention - cuz well I do pretty good garnering attention in other ways. By living and breathing. I'm just that kinda Person In The Spotlight Just as my 5 Reader Crew! LOLOLLL ;)~~~ Gotcha! :D

And a Farewell and Bonny Voyage to Windrider and Picard. I didn't know ya, I only met wind once, but his Legend had preceeded him already, and I was tongue-tied with Nooobish awe at the time :D

You'll always be there in the hearts and minds of your families and friends. May your Heart Scarab balance the Feather of Maat and we'll all be together one day partying in the Field of Reeds :D

Hrm, I have tried it, but I can't get the hang of it... Seems there's potential there though, and your pics make it look fun.

Hawt Piccy Sio! :D
You look fabulous darlin :))

Tale does take some adjusting to - specially when coming from Second Life, but once you get into it - its tons of fun :D

But I do suppose you have to be into the types of things you gotta do. I find having to gather, create and/or trade for the bits and pieces, and items for creating stuff very soothing.

Its endlessly satifying. You get direct results from your efforts :D And if that starts to get boring, you can always focus on the "Big Picture" and work towards researching things for the Universities and Schools.

Fun Fun Fun! LOL

*hugggss Siooo* :DD glad you keepin in touch :)
